Coyotes At Our House | Posh Pooch Designs

We live around lots of wildlife.

 We see deer, bunnies, skunks, raccoons,

 hawks, owls and even Foxes.

Oh and an occasional Bald Eagle.

And, Although there are Coyotes around,

 I hear them, but rarely see them.
All the photos in this blog where taken by me.

Well, This coyote came in my front yard last evening.

I think he was looking for a  

snack of my chihuahuas.

He is beautiful. All thick and furry with his winter coat.

The thicket that he is standing in front of, is usually

 loaded with lots of bunnies.

 I think they have eaten them,

 because the bunnies are gone.

I decided to see if I could see the coyotes tracks

 in the snow in the front yard.

I was a little freaked out to see the

 coyote tracks near my Chihuahuas tracks.

They were made at different times. But still scary.

These coyotes are huge!

At first I thought it was a wolf.

 They should be, they have eaten all the bunnies!

I heard on the news that this is mating season. 

and they are unusually vicious during this time.

 Do not approach them. 

No problem.

 I will admire their beauty from a far.

The Front of our house still has a snow, 

so I snapped this shot before it melted.

Still a little freaky.

Most of the Snow is melted on this side of the house.

Definitely gonna keep an very close eye on my Furbabies.

I Know it is a little early for St. Patrick's Day, yet,

 but had some fun with the pooches last night

 with a new fun Dog Collar Crochet Pattern.

Rosie's Collar has 6 clovers and 

is stitched with green sparkle yarn.

Maximo's Clover collar has 3 clovers and

 is stitched in Lime green yarn.
So you put as many clovers as you like.

 Plus, it could easily be modified for 

any size dog, cat, pet or human!

It is so pretty!

I want to make one for me to wear also!

This pattern is for the Collar with 3 Clovers.

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00 MM

Yarn - Small Amount of Worsted Weight (4)

Tape measure to measure your pet's neck

Stitches:

Chain ( ch)

Double Crochet (dc)

Half Double Crochet ( hdc)

Size: Small Dog( 12 inch neck) But easy to adjust to any size dog or pet.

Gauge: 3chs= 1 inch

Notes: This pattern is for the Collar with 3 Clovers.

Pattern:

 R : 1 - Ch 37, join in a circle, do not twist.

3chs= 1 inch, (3 x 12)+1 = 37

R : 2 - 1 hdc in each ch, join, ch 1

R : 3 - Repeat R ; 2

R : 4 - 1 sl st in the 1st 10 hdc.

**ch 6, 2 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, ch3, sl st in the same ch

ch3, 2dc, ch 3 in the same ch,

next ch3, 2dc, ch 3 in the same ch, ( 3 petals of the clover made)

sl st in the 3 remaining chs**

1sl st in the next 4 hdc, Repeat From ** to **

Then, 1 sl st in the next 5 hdc, Repeat From ** to **

1 sl st in the next 10 hdc, join and tie off, weave in your ends.

( 3 clovers made)

we do not want to throw them out, 
we want to reuse them. 

But where do we store them. 
In a bag holder, of course! 

This Bag holder is very stretchy and will 
hold bunches of them!

Materials:

Crochet Hook - H

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) about 3 oz

          I Used I Love This Yarn - 1 oz of each -

           neon blue-C1, neon green-C2 and neon yellow-C3

          white and brown - small amount

2 Safety eyes

1 safety nose

2 pony tail bands

Small amount of stuffing to stuff head.

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Skip ( sk)

Slip Stitch (sl st)

V Stitch (V St) -  (dc, ch1, dc)

Measures - 18 inches long and 9.5 inches around.

                 

The Pattern is written in 3 Steps-

Step 1- The Parts.

Head - Stitched in the round.

R : 1 - With C1-yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook,

 join in a circle . ( 6 sc)

R : 2 - 2 sc in each sc, ( 12 sc)

R : 3 -  *1 sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc,

 Repeat from * around, (18, sc)

R : 4 -  * 1 sc in the 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc,

 Repeat from * around, ( 24 sc)

R : 5 -  * 1 sc in the 1st 4 sc, 2 sc in the next sc,

 Repeat from * around, ( 28 sc)

R : 6 -  * 1 sc in the 1st 6 sc, 2 sc in the next sc,

Repeat from * around, ( 32 sc)

R : 7  - 1 sc in each sc, (32 sc)

R : 8-10 - Repeat R : 7 ( 32 sc)

R: 11-13 - Change to C2, Repeat R : 7

R : 14 - Repeat R : 7, tie off, weave in your ends.

Bottom of the Head -

 R: 1 - With C2,Ch 5, 9 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, join, ch3

(10dc)

R : 2 - 1 dc in the same st as ch3, 2 dc in each st around, join, ch 3

(20dc)

R : 3 - 1 dc in the same st as ch3, *1dc in next st,

2 dc in the next st* Repeat From * to * around, join,

(30dc) tie off , leaving a 25 inch yarn tail.

We will use this to sew the bottom onto the top pf the head.

Eyes- Make 2

With White yarn, ch 4, 2 sc in the 2nc ch from the hook,

1 sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the last sc,

working down the opposite side of the chain, 2 sc, 1 sc, sc,

 join to 1sc, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail to sew eye on head.

 Ears - Make 2 - 1 yellow, 1 green

Ch 10, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in the next 2 chs,

1 hdc in the next 3 chs, 1 dc in the next 2 chs, 2 dc in the last ch,

working down the opposite side of the chain,

 2dc, 1 dc in next 2 chs, 1 hdc in the next 3 hdc, 1sc in the next 3 chs,

 tie off, leaving a 12 inch ch for sewing on head.

 Tail -

Using 1 strand of each of the 3 colors, ch 18,

 sc in the 2nch from the hook, and in each ch,

 tie off leaving an 8 inch tail of yarn to attach to body.

Step 2:Head Assembly -

A. Sew the Eyes onto the front of the dog head. Place one safety eye in each eye.

B. Place the Safety nose on the head, centered between the eyes.

C. Sew on the ears, Placing one on each side of the head.

D. Stuff the head, loosely, Then place the circle bottom onto the head.

     Sew around the bottom edge.

Step 3- The Body or Bag:

 R : 1 - With C2, sc 30 around the 1 of the pony tail holders, join, ch 3

R : 2 - *1 dc in the 1st sc, 2 dc in next sc around*
Repeat From * to * Around, join, (45 dc)

R : 3 - Change to C3, ch 4,1 dc in the same dc as ch 4,

 *sk the next 3 dc,

V St in the next st, (dc, ch1, dc)*  Repeat From * to * around,

 join to 3rd ch of the beginning ch 4 (12 V sts)

R : 4 - Sl St to the 1st V St, ch 4, 1dc in that 1st V St,

 *ch1, V st in the next V St* Repeat Around,

 join to 3rd ch of the beginning ch 4 (12 V sts)

R : 5-6 - Repeat R : 4 With C1

R : 7-8 - Repeat R : 5 With C2

R : 9-10 - Repeat R : 5 With C3

R : 11-22 - Continue to Repeat R : 5-11 2 more times

R : 23-24 - Repeat R : 5 With C1

R : 25 - With C2, *1 dc in 1st V st,

1 dc in the space between the next 2 V sts*

Repeat From * to * around, join to 1st dc, ch1( 24 sc)

R : 26 - Crocheting around the 2nd pony tail holder,

 1sc in each dc, join and tie off.

Finishing up-

Sew the Back of the head onto the back half of the body,

 using only 12 of the 24 sc.

Attach tail to back of the body at R: 2.

Embroider with brown or black yarn, under the nose, on the face.

Make  a Chain using all 2 yarns, 20 chs long,

 attach to the top of the head of the puppy, for a hanger.

Now Feed The Puppy!

Washcloth Pattern - Free Knitting Pattern for Beginners | Posh Pooch Designs

A Sweet Friend of mine that is learning to knit, 

 asked if I had a knit pattern for a washcloth.

She wanted more of a face cloth size, 

not a regular size washcloth.

I did not have one, only crochet ones.

I directed her to some knitting patterns

 but she wanted something a little smaller.

She gave me a crocheted one that was 

about the size she was looking for.

She said it is the perfect size

 for washing a baby.

Since she is a beginner,

 I designed a beginner wash cloth.

 It is nothing fancy

 and I am sure has been done before,

But this is what I came up with.

A 9 X 9.5 basic knit wash cloth

I loved it so much I made a 

bunch to put in my guest bathroom.

I tie pretty ribbon around them,

With a thank you note for guests.

They are the perfect size 

for taking off your makeup, 

washing your face, or washing a baby.

And for washing my furbabies.

Beginner Knit Washcloth - Knitting pattern

Materials -

Long Straight Knitting Needles- US10-6mm

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) Cotton

I used Peaches and Cream I had on hand

Stitches and Terms:

Cast On (CO)

Bind Off (BO)

Knit (k)

Purl (p)

Measures - 9 X 9.5 inches

Note- This is such a basic pattern,

By changing the number of sts you CO,

 you can make the washcloth bigger or even smaller.

R : 1 - Co 31 stitches, k all sts

R : 2-7  -k all sts

R : 7 - k 1st 3 sts, p next 25 sts, k last 3 sts

R : 8 - k all sts

R : 9-41  - Repeat R7 and R : 8, alternating rows

R : 42 - k all sts

R : 43-47 - k all sts

R : 48 - BO, weave in ends

Blocking - I prefer to spray block the wash cloths.

This is also the perfect take along project. Just throw

 some cotton yarn in your bag, and your needles, 

and you can make several in an hour.

This is the perfect pattern for beginner knitters

 to practice a few basic stitches 

and make something you will be proud to show off.

Materials -

Crochet Hook - H

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4)

I used Red heart Super saver- Med. Brown about 30 yards

Small Amount of Cream, Red and Blue for pompoms

Yarn Needle

Stitches and Terms:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch ( sl st)

Single Crochet ( sc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Together (tog)

Pattern has 3 sizes Small( Medium, Large)

S -2-15 lbs, M-16-30, L 31-50 lbs

Pattern:

Ch 51(66,81) sts with brown yarn

R : 1- 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, and in each ch across, 

ch 1, turn

(50(65, 80 sc))

R : 2 - 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn

R : 3 - Repeat R : 2

R : 4 - sl st in the 1st 15(20,25) sc,

1 sc in the next 16(21,26) sts,

leaving the last 15(20,25) sc, un-stitched, ch1, turn

R : 5 - 1 hdc in each sc, ch 1 turn (16(21,26) hdcs)

R : 6 - Change to Cream yarn, 1 sc in each st, ch1, turn

R : 7 - 1 sc in each st, ch1, turn

R : 8- hdc the 1st 2 sts tog, 1 hdc in the next 12(17,22) hdc,

 hdc the last 2 sts tog, ch1 turn

R : 9 - hdc the 1st 2 sts tog, 1 hdc in each st across,

hdc the last 2 sts tog, ch1, turn

Continue to Repeat R : 9 till you have decreased to only 8(9,10) hdc, 

The number of rows will be different for each size.

Change to Cream Yarn, *1 sc in each hdc, ch 1 turn, then repeat *.

 no decreased on these 2 rows.

Change back to the brown yarn and continue to Repeat R : 9, 

till only 2 hdc remain, st those 2 tog and 

cut yarn and weave in all your ends.

Trim - sc evenly around the whole bandanna for a finished edge.

Stitch on the football stitching using straight stitches.

Add Pompom to the ends of the ties, to the back band, to the point, or where ever you would like.
