Easy Plastic Bag Keeper 

Crochet Pattern

I save all my Plastic Shopping bags. I use them for

 small trash can liners, dog poo bags,

and I also use them for lots of other uses.

I wanted an easy crochet pattern for keeping them hung up

 and out of the way, but still within reach.

This is what I came up with.

I chose To make mine out of a Cotton Blend, But Any Cotton yarn, Acrylic yarn or Blend yarn will work for this pattern. 

I had the Comfy Cotton Blend cakes on hand, 

so I used those. They are a (3) But feel more like a (4) to me.

The Light Brown is Fireside and

 The Light Green is Spring Meadow

Easy Plastic Bag Keeper Crochet Pattern

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook – I / 5.50 MM

Yarn- Cotton or Acrylic (4) 2.5 oz. I Used Comfy Cotton Blend By Lion Brand

Elastic ponytail band

Yarn needle

Stitches:
 Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Special Stitch: Shell Stitch (sh st) - 3 dc in the same st

Size: 15 inches long, plus handle, X 9 inches around

Notes:

Rounds are joined to the ch3 with a slst.

Ch3 Counts a as a dc

Ch1 Does Not Count as a sc

R: 1 – 27 sc around the Elastic ban, join to the 1^st sc with a slst, ch3

(27 sc)

R: 2 – 1 dc in each sc around, join, ch 3 (27 dc)

R: 3 – 1 dc in each dc around, join, ch 3 (27 dc)

R: 4 –2 dc in the same st as the ch3, ch1,

*sk the next 2 dc, sh st in the next dc, ch1*

Repeat From * to * around, join,

slst in the 2^nd dc of the 1^st sh st, ch3

(9 sh sts)

R: 5 - 2 dc in the same sp as the ch3, ch1

* sh st in the 2^nd dc of the next sh st, ch1*

Repeat From * to * around, join,

slst in the next dc, ch3

(9 sh sts)

R: 6 – R: 21 – Repeat R: 5

If you can your keeper longer, you can stitch more rows here.

R: 22 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (27 dc)

R: 23 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch1 (27dc)

R: 24 – 1 sc In each dc, join, ch 30 (27 sc, ch30)

R: 25 – join ch to the opposite side of the bag at sc 13 with a sc,

 sc in the next sc, ch1, turn, sc back across the ch, join the sc next to the beginning chain,

 slst in the next sc,tie off and weave in your ends.

Fill it with your plastic bags and hang it up, and

 your plastic bags are always within reach.

Grantastic Crochet A Long 

"Continuous Join" Also know As,
"Join As You Go"

The method we are using to Join Our Crochet Squares into a Blanket is Called "The Continuous Join Method".
Also Sometimes Called "Join As You Go".

 I love this way of joining, because you can join all the squares without cutting your yarn, and it illuminates all those weave ins.

Lot's of time saved, and you get a lovely finished blanket.

What Do I Do if All my Squares are not the Same Size?

1. If they are off less then a half ,Inch it probably will not matter.
They are all different so some variance will happen. And you can easily ease them into place.

2. You can Block your Squares to get a more uniform look, and make it easier to join the squares.

3. If your squares are more then a half inch off, you can always add a roe of single crochet stitches to edge to equal them out.

The Continuous Join Method

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00 MM

Yarn- 5 Oz. of Med (4) Your Choice of color

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Single crochet (sc)

Step 1- Make sure you have 48 Squares - 4 x 12 = 48

Step 2 - Lay the Square out 6 rows of 8 Squares.

I mixed mine all around for a random look.

Step 3 - Join yarn to the 1st square and sc across the 1st square as indicated by the arrow in the picture.

Place 2 sc in the corner, and sc up the side of the 1st square, again indicated by the arrow. place 2 sc in that corner, and sc across the top of the 1st square.

*Turn, sc across the bottom of the 2nd square, sc also in the sc of the 1st square joining 

as you st, 2 sc in the corner, sc up the side of the 2nd square, 2 sc in the corner, 

sc across the top of the square*

Continue To Repeat From * To * working the next 4 squares as indicated by the Arrows in the picture. 

Do not Sc Across the top of the last Square.

Step 4 -

Sc Down the sides of all 6 of the Squares, and join in the next 6 squares.

Repeat Step 3 and 4 till all the squares a joined.

Sc Evenly on the last 3 sides of the Blanket, join to the 1 st sc.

I stitched a row of sc around the blanket.

You can decide on what trim you would like.

I Love This Bag with or without the fabric Cube inside.

You can find these Fabric cubes at just about any dept Store.

Target, Walmart, IKEA, Home Goods, And

 Even The Dollar Stores.

You can slide the cube in for use, and then out if you need

 to wash the bag. And it does not add any extra weight to the bag.

I Love This Shopping bag because you have a nice sturdy bag.

 It will hold all sorts of groceries, books, toys and even yarn.

And it will not roll around the back of the car.

Single crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Size: 14 X 14 Square when finished

Notes:

Ch3 Counts as a dc

Round are joined with a slst to the ch3

Make 5 Squares -

R: 1 - Ch 5, form into a circle,

ch3, 2 dc, ch 2 in the circle, * 3dc, ch2* 

Repeat From * to * 2 more times,

Join to ch 3, slst to the next ch2 sp

 (4 sets of 3dc, ch2)

R: 2 - Ch3, 2 dc, ch2, 3dc in the 1st ch2 sp, (1st corner)

*3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next ch 2 sp*

Repeat From * to * 2 more times,

Join to ch 3, slst to the next ch2 sp 

(4 sets of 3dc, ch2, 3dc)

R: 3 - Ch3, 2 dc, ch2 in the 1st ch2 sp,

3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next ch 2 sp, 

*3 dc, ch 2 in the next ch2 sp, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next ch 2 sp*

Repeat From * to * 2 more times,

Join to ch 3, slst to the next ch2 sp

Repeat From * to * 2 more times, ch 2, 3 dc in the last ch2 sp,

Join to ch 3, Tie off and Weave in your ends.

 (3dc, ch2, 3dc, and 3 Sets of 3dc, ch2 on each side)

R: 6 – R: 9 - Repeat R: 5 increasing every row.

Tie off and weave in your ends after R: 9

R: 9 - (3dc, ch2, 3dc and 7 sets of 3dc, ch2 on each side)

Repeat 4 More Times For 5 Squares

Assembly:

Lay them out as shown in the picture - 5 Squares - A Bottom and 4 sides

Sc the 4 sides to the bottom with right sides facing out.

Sc The 4 sides of the Bag to form a Box.

Edge: Sc around the top edge of the box, join to the 1st sc.

Handles: Sc across the 1st square, Ch 25, join to the next corner.

Sc across the top of the next square.

ch 25, join to the next corner.

Sc around the top of the bag and handles,

Join to the 1st sc, tie off and weave in your ends.

Slide the cube inside and Go Shopping.
