Big Striped Tote Bag Crochet Pattern

 I designed This Simple Tote Bag Crochet Pattern

About 10 Years ago.

I decided it was time to retest and update the 

Crochet Pattern. And Also, thought it would be fun to

 do this update as a Video Crochet A Long.

I am very excited about this Video Crochet Along 

and I hope you are too. Do not worry if you don't have

 time for the Crochet A Long right now, the videos and

 pattern will always be here when you do have the time. 

The bag is a big roomy bag, that will fit lots of yarn, 

groceries , books, toys, and whatever you need to carry. 

It measures about 12 x12,  x 36 inches around.

It's Even Large Enough To Carry 2 Chihuahuas!

Max And Rosie Don't mind. 

The Technique For The Stripes is called "Fading".

Moving from one color to next color, 

blending the colors together.

You can use 3 or more colors. Have fun and see 

what color combinations you can come up with.

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Hook size: K/ 6.5

Yarn - Med (4) 28 oz. - I used Red Heart Super Saver (3 colors of choice)

                 2 skeins (14 oz.) - C1, 1 skein (7 oz.) - C2, 1 skein - C3 (7 oz.)

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Back Loop Only (BLO)

Single crochet together( sctog) Single Crochet decrease

Size: 12 X 12, X 36 inches around

3 stitches = 1 inch (this is approximately)

Notes: 

Ch1 does not count as a st

You will be Crocheting with 2 strands of yarn at all times.

Pattern: We will be starting with the base or bottom of the bag -

Step 1 - Crochet Video LINK

R: 1 - Ch 31 with 2 strands of C1, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 

1 sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn (30 sc)

R: 2 - 1 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (30 sc)

ch1 1 does not count as a sc, it is a turning ch

R: 3 - 1 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (30 sc)

R: 4 - R: 30  -  Repeat R: 3 

 sc evenly down the 1st side of the square, 2 sc in the 1st corner,
Repeat on the other 3 sides of the square, join to the 1st sc with a slst, ch 1

( 29 sc, and 2 sc in the corner on each side)

Step 2- 3 - Crochet Video LINK:

Step2 -

R: 31 - We will be working around the edges of the square. 

*Working in the back loops, on this row only, 1 sc in next 29 sc down 

the first side of the square,  then st the 2 sctog in the corner*

Repeat from * to *  3 more times, join to the 1st sc, ch 1

(4 sets of 29 sc, 1 sctog =120sc)

 R: 32 - R: 37  - 1 sc in each sc around all four sides, join and ch 1
 (30 sc on each side =120sc)

R: 38 - Tie off one of the strands of the C1, and join in one of the
strands of the c2, With 1 strand of C1 and one strand of C2,
1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1

R: 39 - R: 43 - With 1 strand of C1 and one strand of C2, 1 sc in each sc around,
 join, ch 1

Step 3 -

R: 44 - Tie off the one strand of the c2, and join in one of the other
strand of the C2 , With 2 strands of C2, 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1

R: 45 - R: 49 - With 2 strands of C2, 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1

R: 50 - Tie off the one strand of C2, and join in one of the

strands of the C3, 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1

R: 51 - R: 55 - With 1 strand of C2 and 1 strand of C3, 1 sc in each sc around, 

join, ch 1

R: 56 - Tie off the one  strand of the C2, and join in one of the
other strand of the C3, With 2 strands of C3, 1 sc in each sc around,
 join, ch 1 (120 sc)

R: 57 - R: 59  -  With 2 strands of C3, 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1

(120 sc)

R: 60 - We will be forming the handles on this row. With 2 strands of C3, 

1 sc in the 1st 10 sc, ch 15, skip the next 10 sc, join to the next st with a sc, 
1 sc in the next 9 sc,

1 sc in each sc in the next 30 sc, 

1 sc in the 1st 10 sc, ch 15, 
skip the next 10 sc, join to the next st with a sc, 1 sc in the next 9 sc, 
1 sc in each sc on the last side, join to the 1st sc , ch 1

R: 61 - 1 Sc in each sc and in 15 sc around the ch 15 sps, around, join, ch 1

R: 62 - 1 sc in each sc, join, tie off weave in your ends.

Today On Friday Fun With Sara We stitched up some

 simple 4 Leaf Clovers And Shamrocks,
 And yes, there is a Difference.
And Than I will showed how to block and Why?

🍀All Shamrocks Are Clovers, 

But Not All Clovers Are Shamrocks.🍀

The difference is basically math.

Shamrocks only have 3 petals, or leaflets,

 while Four Leaf Clovers have 4 petals, or leaflets.

I used Medium (4) weight yarns. It can be Acrylic, Cotton

 or what ever yarn you have in your yarn stash. And any

 shade of green or whatever colors you prefer.

Open 4 Leaf Clover And Shamrock
Crochet Pattern By Sara Sach

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook - H / 5.00 MM

Yarn- Med (4) I used left overs I had on hand

Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Space (sp)

Size: 2 inches

Pattern:

R: 1 - Ch3, 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 

join in a circle with a slst to the 1st sc,

(5sc)

R: 2 - *Ch6, slst in the next sc*

Repeat from * to * 

2 more times For a Shamrock, slst in the last 2 sc

(3 ch6 loops)

3 more times For a 4 Leaf Clover, slst in the last sc
slst in the last sc

( 4 ch 6 loops)

R: 3 - *6 sc in the ch 6 loop*

Repeat from * to * 

2 More times For a Shamrock

sc in the next sc,

3 more times for 4 Leaf Clover

sc in the next sc,

Stem - Ch5, slst in next 4 chs, join to sc with a slst, tie off weave in your ends.

Use beginning tail of yarn to make sure there is not a hole 

in the center of the clover, and weave in your ends. 

Let's Block Them So They Are Nice And Crisp:

What You Need:

Blocking Board

Straight pins

Spray bottle Filled With Water

A Warm place to let them dry - I like to place mine on the dryer.

What if I don't have a Blocking board?

You an use cardboard with a towel over it.

Sponge or Foam board

or Just a towel

Do I have to block?

No, I do not block every project.

I usually only block Granny Squares - 

It makes them easier to put together and line up.

I usually block doilies, and coasters, ornaments and smaller projects.

or Projects that need to be a specific shape.

Can  I wash them after they are blocked?

Yes, but You will need to re-block them. Blocking is only temporary

If you want it to be more permanent you can add starch or stiffeners.

How To Block:

Pin Your project to the blocking board, shaping them.

Spritz with water, 

(If you are stiffening them add the stiffener to the water bottle.)

Set The board aside and let them dry. 

I usually set mine on the top of the dryer, and leave them for 24 hours.

Make sure if you added a stiffener to the bottle to rinse the bottle really well.

When dry unpin them and use them.

I Love This Crochet Pattern Design.
I Love How it stitched up and 

I Love The Yarn I used To design it.

The Yarn is The Favorite Stripe From Red Heart yarn.

 It is so bright and cheerful.

I had a Left Over skein of this yarn and thought we

 all could use A Rainbow of Hope. 

And Of Course you can stitch it up in any medium

(4) weight yarn you have on hand.

The Rainbow Skinny Scarf is light with  

Spring Scarf stitched using the Open Shell Stitch.

It measures only 4.5 inches across, and It can 

be made as long as you want it, depending how you

 are planning to wear it.

The Scarf Can be worn as a accent piece around

 the neck, or as a headscarf to tie your hair back.

 And it can also be used as a belt to cinch

 in a top or dress.
