Do not count the loop on your hook as a chain.
Begin counting with the 1st ch off the hook.
To Keep Your chain from twisting, after you
have chained about 15 chains, straighten
the chain and slip it over the end of your
crochet hook.
To keep count when you are chaining long
chains, you can place a Stitch marker about
every 20 chains.
A Stitch marker can be a safety pen, paper clip,
or just a different color piece of yarn.
Anything that you can mark the chain with.
